We are Sounds Like Touch, a springboard for artists, designers and creators who like to make (literally) touching, electronic, performative arts by using their body for interaction. To be able to do this, many different expertises are needed. That is why Sounds Like Touch connects makers with different skill sets for collaboration and exchange of knowledge.

  • On Saturday the 11th of January we will be hosting a New Year's meetup at the Sounds Like Touch Makerspace together with Perforator!

Perforator is a musical theatre duo consisting of oboist Marlies van Gangelen and inventor Akim Moiseenkov. They reached out to Sounds Like Touch, because they are working on a new production called 'Lijf', for which they are making a large costume that produces sounds when interacted with, and they are looking for advice, inspiration and possible collaborations to make this happen.

We think they have come to the right place as their work relates to tactile interaction within electronic, performative arts and interdisciplinary crossovers. And because we believe in the power of sharing knowledge and inspiration, we wanted to connect you with Perforator and turn our brainstorming session into a community meet-up and networking event! We'll close the knowledge exchange with a toast to the New Year, with drinks on us.

    What to expect?
+ During this afternoon session, Perforator will briefly present their work, inspirations and their upcoming production.
+ Electronic textile designer (and Tactology Lab 3 co-curator!) Michelle Vossen will demonstrate e-textile instruments.
+ And Dianne Verdonk will talk about how Sounds Like Touch bridges these different fields. + Afterwards we'll collectively brainstorm about the new Perforator production 'Lijf'.

So: are you a maker who makes in the context of performance? Or are you a performer who likes to work (or wants to work) with electronics on stage? Or are you interested in how makers like Perforator and Michelle Vossen and platforms like Sounds Like Touch work in hybrid crossovers? Then join us on the 11th between 15:00 and 17:00 for an inspiration & brainstorming session! Bring your expertise and your questions, and let's kick off the new year with free drinks afterwards 🍺.
